Fuchsia and Feathery

Today I wore an outfit that combined a fuchsia skirt and black and white bird print top.  I felt like the outfit was professional and modern.  It was perfect for teaching all day and for the meeting I had scheduled for after school.

Sunday Simplicity

Today was a relaxed Sunday around the house.  I started working on report cards, did some laundry, and some other chores around the house.  I wore a simple outfit of black crop pants and a printed tank.  It was comfortable and worked well for working around the house.

So Cal Saturday

Today was a beautiful, sunny, Southern California, pre-summer day.  The weather was beautiful and I had a pool day planned with my best friend.  We ended up getting a little side-tracked by an errand at the mall that turned into a full blown shopping trip.  We skipped the pool and spent the day out and about town.  We made dinner and played with the dogs before renting a movie.  I decided to wear something simple and comfortable, so I went with a maxi dress and sandals.  I had several random people tell me how much they liked my dress while we were shopping, and the outfit was super comfortable for the days activities.

Rock 'N' Roll, the Beach, and an Ear Infection

Today I had to take a sick day from work.  I have been sick for the past two weeks and for the past three days or so have been having trouble with my ears being plugged up as well.  I took the day off and headed to the doctor to get checked out.  Of course I have developed an ear infection on top of the raging cold that just won't quit.  I spent the rest of the afternoon planning for the last few weeks of school and getting started on my report cards.  This evening I had a hair appointment with my good friend and hair stylist extraordinaire, and then I went to dinner with her and her boyfriend (whom I've known since birth...literally) down by the beach.  Although it was a sick day I was going to be out and about so I needed an outfit I wouldn't be ashamed to be seen in.  I was feeling a little rocker chick vibe today so I went with my trusty olive green skinny jeans (which I have been obsessed with lately) and paired them with a black top and black wedges.  I added rocker touches by wearing a leather jacket, mixed metallic layered necklace, and studded earrings.  I really liked this outfit and I think it hit just the right note for my mood today.

Nice Winter We're Having this Spring

Today I woke up to some chilly weather, especially when you consider that its almost May!  I decided to combat the cold weather (and the cold bug that I'm still fighting off) by wearing a wintery ensemble of black pants with a striped shirt and blue sweater, layered with a warm black coat and boots.  The outfit was perfect for a rainy gloomy day, and it was comfortable enough to get some work done around the classroom.

When I Grow Up...

Today was the last day of state testing.  Hooray!  Today's theme called for everyone to dress like what they want to be when they grow up.  Since I want to be a teacher when I grow up, I went all out teacher today.  I'm talking tweed, pearls, glasses, and a bun.  I thought the outfit was cute and classy and I got a lot of compliments on it.  The dress fit great when I was standing, which was most of the day, but it crept up to be a little too short when sitting (which I don't do much when teaching fortunately).  I really liked this outfit and would definitely wear it again.

Wild Wild West

Today was back to state testing again.  Today's theme...wild west day.  I decided to go with a floral dress and add a denim jacket and boots to complete the look.  The dress I wore is one of my favorites since it can be dressed up or down, although I don't wear it often because something always seems to happen to it when I do (think spills, rips, holes, etc.)  I got compliments on the outfit all day, although I don't think it photographed very well.

Dress: Target (old)

Today I combined pieces I already had in my closet to create a look that was decidedly not my style.  When you dress up with a theme, do you buy special pieces or make the look work using pieces from your existing wardrobe?

Rosy Red

While I am still not fully recovered, the effort I'm putting into my style is recovering.  Today I decided to wear a black and red floral print dress.  I paired it with a red cardigan, black shoes, and black accessories.  I love this dress, but I want to play with it a bit more to style it better since I wasn't completely sold on the whole outfit.

Today I wore a dress that I absolutely love, but I wasn't happy with the way I ended up styling it.  Do you ever have a piece that you love but can't quite hit the right note when styling?

Sunday Funday

Today I was feeling a little better than I had for the past few days.  My parents are in town from Arizona and the weather outside was beautiful.  We decided we should have some family time so I spent the afternoon lounging on the patio of a favorite restaurant with my parents, my brother, and his girlfriend.  Since I was feeling better, I put a bit more effort into what I was wearing.  I decided to pair my recently acquired olive green skinny jeans with another recent acquisition...my dark wash chambray shirt.  I finished the outfit with my custom Toms.  The outfit was great for lounging around and having lunch with the family.

Today I wore a cute and comfortable outfit for a family outdoor dining experience.  What would you wear to dine outdoors?

Sick as a Dog

I have spent the last few days being sick as a dog.  Friday was just not cute.  If I did not need to administer the state test, I would have called out sick.  The theme for the day was "Shark Day".  Since I was not feeling well, I wore my school t-shirt (our mascot is a shark) and jeans with tennis shoes.  The outfit was nothing special and I looked like death so I chose not to take a photo for the day.

On Saturday, I was still not feeling well, but I had a busy schedule.  In the morning, I was supposed to attend my cousin's confirmation.  Since I was feeling under the weather, I decided to wear an outfit I had worn before.  I wore my navy blue pencil dress with a leopard belt and nude heels.

Worn without the sweater today

It was easy to put together, and I knew it looked good.  After the confirmation, the whole family headed back to my aunt's house for lunch.  After hanging out for awhile, I headed home.  I was supposed to go to a baby shower next and end my day at a picnic in the park with some friends, but I ended up not attending either event.  When I arrived home, I quickly changed into comfortable clothing and spent the rest of the day parked on the couch, cuddling with my puppy. While I didn't look much better than I did on Friday, I decided to take a picture anyway.

I have been feeling really crumby the last few days and my style has suffered for it.  Do you ever feel too lousy to put the effort into dressing cute?
