Common Core Training Day

Today I had a training to attend at school for the Common Core Standards.  The dress code was casual, but I still wanted to look put together.  I decided on a black and white ensemble that would keep me cool throughout the day.

Bulletin Boards...All. Day. Long.

Today I had planned to work in my classroom for the day.  I like to go to school a few days just after school lets out to get all of my bulletin boards in order for the next year and make a list of the items I will be needing to get over the break.  Today was a bulletin board day.  I worked from 8 am to 3 pm on nothing but bulletin boards.  I made a really good dent and have only two boards left to finish.  It was a hot day so I decided on shorts and a tank top with a light sweater, which I ended up taking off for most of the day.

Evening Event

Today was a summer day at its finest.  I spent almost all day in a bathing suit or work out clothes as I relaxed around the house and laid out in the backyard.  I even made it to the gym in the afternoon.  This evening I had plans though, so I changed into this striped pencil skirt and t shirt combination.  I really liked the combination, especially paired with my cognac heels.

First Official Day of Summer

Today was my first official day of summer.  I had a laundry list of errands to run and I had lunch plans with my bestie.  The name of the game today was comfort.  I decided on a mint and coral combination that I ended up really liking.  At first I thought it might be too much, but I had several people tell me how much they liked my outfit today.

Today was a crazy run around kind of day.  Since I was going to be out and about I wanted an outfit that looked put together.  Also, I wanted to wear some summery colors for my first day of summer.  What do you think of the color combination?  Would you wear coral and mint together?

 

In other news...I got a delivery in the mail today of the books I ordered from Barnes and Noble last week.  Included in the shipment was this little gem.  It was written by one of my friends from high school!  I can't wait to read it!

Memorial Monday

Today was an around the house kind of day.  I still had two puppies to watch, and later in the afternoon my best friend and her husband were coming over to hang out for a while and pick up their dog.  I thought we would most likely be going out to eat so I decided to put a little effort into what I was wearing.  It was a warm day outside so I decided to cuff my jeans and add a floral racer back tank.  I finished the look with the most comfortable shoes I own...my Rainbows!  The outfit was perfect for a day lounging around and going to dinner with friends.

Puppy Sitting

Today I woke up with an icky headache, but I also knew that I would be puppy sitting for my best friend and her husband.  I pulled it together and took some medicine and a nap before getting dressed.  Since it was a weekend and I was going to be hanging out with a few dogs all day, I went super comfy and casual with a t-shirt, jeans, and flip flops.

Wings and Things...

Today was a lazy around the house kind of day, but I had plans to get wings with a friend for dinner.  I basically wore work out clothes all day until it was time to get ready for dinner.  When planning this outfit, I was looking for another way to style this necklace.  I love the necklace but I've been struggling with how to wear it.  I decided on flare jeans and a mint top with platform wedges.  The outfit was casual but looked pulled together for a night out.

Last Day of School

Today was the official last day of school.  I had a party scheduled for my kiddos...complete with pizza, juice drinks, and a movie.  We spent the morning switching the classroom around. (It's amazing how fast you can move a library full of books to the opposite side of the room when you have 30 kids to carry the books for you!)  Then I had some special activities for the students like an end of year slide show and a signature page for each student.  Then the students settled in for their movie.  After school I had a grade level meeting and some heavy duty work to do in my classroom.  Since I had such an active schedule today, I decided to go casual and comfortable with a t shirt and skinny jeans.

Today I wore an outfit that was comfortable since I was going to be doing some heavy lifting.  What would you wear for the last day of school?

Promotion Day!

Today was officially promotion day for my fifth graders.  I knew I was going to be on stage for handing out the awards and promotion certificates.  I also knew I was going to be in lots of pictures.  I woke up feeling a little bit rock 'n' roll so I decided to go with a black and white outfit with a pop of color in the necklace.  The outfit was fun and perfect for a celebration like today.  Now for the real secret to my outfit...the top is actually a dress!  I saw the idea on another fashion blog I follow (J's Everyday Fashion) and thought I'd try it out.  I think you would never even be able to tell that the top is really a dress.

Field Day Fun

Today was our school field day.  I had a water race planned for the students so I knew I was going to be out in the sun for most of the day.  I decided to go with cropped pants and a tank top.  I added a matching sweater to cover up because I wanted to make sure I was dressed appropriately.  The outfit worked great for field day, however I forgot to sunscreen my chest and ended up with a sunburn in the shape of a square from where my sweater opened.  Oops!

Comfy Country

Today was our class poetry reading and clean out day.  My students spent a majority of the day helping me by cleaning out their desks, turning in their textbooks, and finishing up their poetry projects.  This afternoon we had a poetry reading, which ended up being amazing.  I have some great little poets in my class this year.  I decided to wear a skirt that I haven't worn in a while that is comfortable and kind of flowy.  I paired it with a pale pink top and a jean jacket, giving it a little bit of a country feel.  I liked the outfit and it was comfortable for a day around the classroom.

Cherry Blossom

Today was the first day of my final week of school for this school year.  I decided to wear a top that I recently purchased that is covered in cherry blossoms.  I originally paired it with a gray pencil skirt, but changed my mind because I thought I might need to do some work around my classroom today.  While I love the look of the top, it ended up not being very practical for working in my classroom.  The two layers kept riding up at different points when I stretched up to write on the board or staple something to the wall.  I think the next time I wear this top, I will wear it with that gray pencil skirt and tuck it in.
