Bright Blue and Blooming

Today the weather was warming up so I wanted to wear an outfit that was a little bit springy.  It was also spirit week at school and the fifth grade was supposed to wear blue.  With these two ideas in mind I decided to wear a floral oxford top that I picked up at Old Navy a few weeks ago with a blue sweater, jeans, and flats.  I really liked the outfit and got tons of compliments on it.

Seeing Double

Today I decided to get away from the stripes that have taken over my life for the past few days.  I went with an all black outfit comprised of a sheer polka dot top and black skinnies.  Now this top is somewhat of a duplicate of another top that I own that I wore about a month ago.  The difference being that this top is sheer while the other top is not.  Normally I don't purchase items that are so similar to each other, but in this case I had been hunting for a black and white polka dot top for some time.  I finally settled on the first top (the one I wore about a month ago).  Just after that, my best friend gave me the one I'm wearing today without realizing I already bought one.  I decided to keep both because a) I'm a bit obsessed with polka dots and b) this top has a more casual feel while the other one seems dressier to me.  Anyway, the inspiration photo and my interpretation of the outfit are shown below:

Now it goes without saying that I wish I had been able to do something more with my hair today.  However, the weather out where I work has been incredibly windy this week, so in an effort to keep it out of my face and as untangled as possible, I went with a bun.  If I wore this outfit again I would definitely go with loose curls.

Today I wore a top very similar to another top that I own.  Would you purchase two items that are extremely similar?

What's Black and White and Red all over?

Today was another Pinspirational day.  I have always liked stripes--as is evidenced by the many outfits I have worn that incorporate that trend--but I have been especially into them lately.  As I was scanning through Pinterest this weekend I saw several stripe themed outfits that I fell in love with.  I tried the first one yesterday, and decided to go for another stripe-tastic outfit today.  I went with a striped blazer over a black tank with red skinny jeans.  I loved the combination of black, white, and red (three of my favorite colors) and the stripes added a trendy vibe to the outfit.  I was in a bit of a rush so I forgot to add a necklace to complete the outfit, but I generally liked the idea behind the outfit.

Camel and Stripes...a Winning Combination

Today I took the day off to go to the doctor so I didn't need to get dressed up like I was going to work.  I had seen the combination of camel pants with a white and black striped top on Pinterest and was eager to try it, so I thought today would be the perfect day.  The outfit was comfortable and I thought the mix of neutrals was classic and modern at the same time.  The inspiration and the outfit are shown below:

Today I needed two different outfits to fit my schedule for the day.  I had seen a cool combination of stripes and leopard print on Pinterest and wanted to test it out.  For the afternoon I needed a more dressed up look so I went with a houndstooth skirt and a cobalt blue top.  It was a really windy day so I ended up putting my hair in a sock bun in order to keep it out of my face.  The resulting outfits are below:

Clean House

Today I was working around the house, cleaning out cabinets, and going through the last of my things in preparation for a garage sale I have planned for next weekend.  Because I was going to be working around the house, comfort was the name of the game.  I went with a chambray shirt, black cropped skinnies and flats.  The outfit was comfortable and worked great for a cleaning house kind of day.

Animal Instincts

Today was another cold one.  I decided to wear a classic combination of black and animal print.  I layered an animal print sweater over a black oxford and paired it with black skinny jeans.  The outfit was classy and comfortable for a long day at work.  After work I needed to change into a dressier outfit so I switched out the pants for a pencil skirt and the flats for heels.  Today i wore all black with an animal print sweater.  How do you like to wear animal print.

Classic Tweed

Today was supposed to be a cold and rainy day here in California.  Lately, I have been planning a lot of outfits around skirts and dresses, but due to the change in the weather, I needed to change gears and plan an outfit around pants instead.  I decided to go with a classic professional look with gray tweed pants, a white oxford shirt, and a black sweater.  I finished the look with a pearl necklace and earrings.  The outfit was fairly comfortable and warm enough for the chilly weather.

Chevron Stripes!

Today was a run around town kind of day.  This is the second of two Mondays in a row that I have off this month and I took advantage of it to run some errands.  I was able to take my puppy to get her nails trimmed, get my car washed, and hit up the grocery store...three of the big things on my list.  For dinner tonight, I am supposed to be meeting my dad at a fairly casual restaurant and I didn't really want to change beforehand, so I needed something cute enough for dinner with dad.  For a casual run around kind of day I went with comfort.  I wore a chevron striped T-shirt tunic with some black skinnies and flats.  I was overall pleased with this easy to put together ensemble.  What do you like to wear around town when you're running errands?
